National Recycling was contracted out by Paris Holdings to dismantle and remove (3) 10,000 KVA Transformers. Substation infrastructure, which included large switchgear, electrical breakers and control units, was also to be dismantled and disposed.
The client specified that it was imperative that the removal timeline was not to be exceeded. National Recycling was given (7) days to complete the project. This job required rush scheduling of equipment and labour.
Items Removed:
- (3) Medium Transformers- 10,000 KVA with a total weight of 40,000lbs per transformer-
- Oil Removal- National Recycling Inc. was responsible for oil drainage, disposal and testing. Oil tests showed less than 5 PPM of PCB’s. National Recycling commissioned a fully licensed oil drainage company to remove and dispose of the oil. A waste manifest was provided.
Removal Method:
- Due to the tight schedule which was dictated by the client, National Recycling proposed that each transformer be drained on site, and transported as one piece.
- Commissioning a 50 ton Crane- required to safely lift each transformer
- Arranging transport- Tri-Axle flatbed trailers were commissioned to transport the transformers
Subcontractors were commissioned to support National Recycling staff in dismantling and removing the substation infrastructure |
